Hands-On Clinical Externship

After completing your online didactic modules, GMCTA assists with externship placement at an approved facility. During externship, you will:

  • Observe and perform scans under credentialed supervision.
  • Complete required case logs and competencies.
  • Demonstrate patient care, communication, and workflow in real settings.

Externship sites and schedules vary by location and availability.

Certification & Next Steps

Graduates are prepared for entry-level sonography roles. Certification eligibility, exam pathways, and requirements are set by independent credentialing organizations; always verify current criteria directly with the credentialing body relevant to your intended specialty and location.

Career Outcomes

  • Ultrasound / Sonography Technician (entry-level)
  • OB/GYN or Abdominal Sonography Assistant (under supervision)
  • Imaging Center or Outpatient Clinic Sonography Support
